Isaac’s Corner: Book Reviews

Boxcar Children

Welcome back website visitors! This is Isaac, one of Hank’s superfriends and it’s time for another installment of “Isaac’s Corner” where I give book reviews, both to help you pick the next book to read and to get credit at school. My grandfather would call this “killing two birds with one stone”, I call it being smart.

Today I will be reviewing The Boxcar Children. Now there are like five thousand different Box Car Children books and I didn’t want to review them all so I’m just going to do the first one.

In the first book the author, whose name is Gertrude (please don’t hold that against her) introduces us to Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny.  Henry is the older brother, but he is nothing like Hank’s awful brother Todd. He’s cool and he looks out for the kids.

It’s kinda a sad book because their parents have died, but at the same time it’s not sad at all because we learn how the kids take care of themselves and look out for each other. That’s probably what I like about the book the best. It reminds me of my two superfriends, Hank and Sue, and how no matter what happens we have each other’s backs. An example of how the Boxcar Children take care of each other is Benny. He’s the littlest and like all little kids he needs extra attention and can be a little whiny, but the rest of his brothers and sisters don’t mind. They take care of Benny no matter what.

And all of the kids always come together to solve problems like building shelves and finding plates to eat on and FINDING food! Yea, that’s right, with no parents the kids have to figure all of that stuff out on their own. I really like that.

It’s a cool book and a great book series. I like some of the later books better, where they solve some harder mysteries, but I think the first book in the series is pretty good.

Oh, and the children find this boxcar in the middle of the woods that they live in. Now that’s a pretty sweet fort!!
